Apperture

Is Apperture free?

Apperture has a free tier. Full access is a one-time purchase of $12.99, no subscription.

What is the difference between the free and paid version?

The free tier gives you access to a small selection of film stocks and manual controls. The paid version unlocks all 30+ film stocks, all camera profiles, and full settings access.

Is there a subscription?

No. The $12.99 purchase is one-time. There are no recurring charges.

Can I request a film stock?

Yes. Use the film request form on the home page to submit a stock you'd like to see added.

Does Apperture work on Android?

Yes. Apperture is available on both iOS and Android.

Does Apperture save photos?

Apperture is a viewfinder simulator, not a camera. It shows you what a scene will look like on film. It does not capture or save images.

Does Apperture work as a light meter?

Apperture includes a built-in light and range meter. It meters the scene and shows you how that exposure will look on your chosen film stock.

What is reciprocity failure?

At very long exposures, film does not respond linearly to light. Reciprocity failure is the brightening correction needed to compensate. Apperture calculates this automatically and shows you the adjusted exposure time.

How accurate are the simulations?

The simulations are approximations based on publicly available photographic data and theory. They are not empirically calibrated measurements.

Does Apperture require an account or internet connection?

No account is required. No personal data is collected. The app works fully offline.
